Step of Faith Missionary Baptist Church's History
Reverend James
Ballard had a vision from God, and founded the great church, and naming the
church, Step of Faith Missionary Baptist Church. It was organized on
Tuesday, January 27, 2004
in the home of Mr. Murphy and Minister Esther Hamilton. On Tuesday, January 27,
2004, there 17 members in attendance and were pronounced chartered members of
this new church. The original chartered members were:

On, Sunday,
February 1, 2004, was on our first Sunday service. The service was held at Brother
Murphy and Minister Esther Hamilton’s home with forty-six (46) in attendance. In
addition, it was the first time the Communion was served.
On, Monday,
February 2, 2004, the Brotherhood and
Mission was
formed in the home of the Hamilton Family. The first officers of the Brotherhood
and Mission were as followed:

We Thank God for
the vision of the Step of Faith Missionary Baptist Church and the Hamilton
Family for opening doors to us and allowing us to use their home as our
Sanctuary. However, as the month of February progressed, we had out grown the
Hamilton’s home. God saw that we needed more room. Therefore, he blessed us with
J. J. Rhoades Elementary School to worship. We stayed at J. J. Rhoades
Elementary School worshipping from March 2004 to August 2004.
While the church
was at J. J. Rhoades Elementary School, the Praise Dancers and Drill Team were
organized on Sunday, March 21, 2004. The Praise Dancers under the leadership of
Sister Cathy Miles, and the members are:

Wednesday, April 7, 2004, Reverend Ballard Baptized three (3) new
members at
Mt.
Moriah
Missionary
Baptist
Church. They were:

We Thank God for
Reverend Thomas McGruder for allowing us to utilize his facilities for God's
program.
On
Sunday, May 23, 2004, Reverend James Ballard installed six (6) committed
servants for God as Deacons of Step of Faith Missionary
Baptist Church. The Installation Services were held at Mt. Moriah
Missionary Baptist Church. The following are the Deacons that were installed:

The vision given
from God to our Pastor, Reverend James Ballard led us to 3503 Sunbeam Street. On
Sunday, September 5, 2004, we held our first day of service in our new building on
3503 Sunbeam
Street.
The Dedication
of our new Church building was held on Sunday, December 19, 2004, where Dr. Mose
A. Jones the Pastor of the Greater Hope Missionary Baptist Church and
Congregation were our guest.
